New Series of Hofmann, John Bean and Boxer Tyre Changers

Pfungstadt, September 2008 – The Hofmann, John Bean and Boxer brands are going to launch two new tyre changers each which perfectly support the user in handling tyres, including UHP and run-flat tyres, owing to their special design.

With the Hofmann monty universal 1 and monty universal 2 (John Bean Pegasus 100 and Pegasus 200 and Boxer Vulcan 1 and Vulcan 2) the wheels are centrally clamped by the centre post and consequently allow to demount the tyre on both sides as gently and conveniently as possible. Turntable speed can be chosen depending on requirements: slow speed is ideally suited for accurate and attentive operation in critical phases such as bead breaking, pulling the bead over the rim flange, or operations requiring an enormous effort, whereas quick speed allows to save time in uncritical phases

The centre-type turntable is vertically adjustable so that the operator can handle different tyres conveniently, even wheels which require reverse mounting. The lift, which comes standard with the tyre changer, further helps to facilitate operation.

This new series of tyre changers is equipped with a practical control console which allows to move the bead breaker disc in vertical direction and to lock it horizontally in any desired position. As soon as bead breaking begins, the disc can be optimised in position by simple key operation.

With the monty universal 1, Pegasus 100 and Vulcan 1 demounting of the tyre is accomplished in the conventional way using a tyre lever. With monty universal 2, Pegasus 200 and Vulcan 2 an automatic bead grip is provided to pull the bead over the rim flange easily and conveniently without the use of a tyre lever.
